Finance Manager

Role Summary

We’re looking for a Finance Lead to fully own the finance function at a Ukrainian game outsourcing studio. You’ll head up the finance direction, manage our Finance Manager, work closely with the accountant, and have a direct impact on the profitability of a company serving clients across the US and Europe.

About Us

Whimsy Games is a small Ukrainian game outsourcing studio delivering projects for international clients. Our team is Middle to Senior level across the board. We work in a flexible format with minimal bureaucracy.

Core areas of responsibility

• Cash flow: planning incoming/outgoing cash flows, monitoring client payments, approving expense requests
• Payments: organizing and controlling payments (bank transfers, cards, crypto, cash), calculating and processing payouts to the team
• Accounting oversight: coordinating bookkeeping across multiple legal entities (AR/AP, payroll & taxes, month-end close, financial statement preparation, liaison with auditors)
• Management finance: supporting project budget calculations, documenting financial business processes, preparing regular management reporting with analysis and recommendations for leadership
• Budgeting: building and aligning quarterly/annual budgets for the company and departments
• Banking: managing relationships with banks and payment providers, negotiating favorable terms
• Legal/financial support: reviewing financial terms of contracts (MSA, SOW, addendums)
• Project & commercial finance: contributing to rate card development, reviewing and approving estimates (hours, team composition, rates, margin), calculating and monitoring profitability across projects/clients/vendors
• Treasury: managing liquidity and free cash
• Process automation: optimizing and automating finance processes and reporting

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of experience in financial management, ideally in IT/outsourcing/outstaffing
• Understanding of Ukrainian legal specifics regarding sole proprietors (FOP), civil-law contracts, and currency control
• Experience with budgeting, financial modeling, and management reporting
• Experience calculating project profitability/margins is a plus
• Confident with Excel/Google Sheets; experience with finance systems/BI tools is a plus
• Self-driven, comfortable owning the finance function without heavy oversight
• English sufficient for communicating with international partners (Upper Intermediate+)
