Onlyplay is an innovative game development company specializing in creating unique gaming experiences. We continue to grow and are looking for an experienced Level Designer to join our team.
🎯 Role Purpose:
Developing levels for a mobile isometric action-horror game: building navigation schemes, compositing the location, setting up gameplay areas, lighting, decor, and performing basic environment modeling (within the given style).
✅ Your future responsibilities:
Level planning and concepting:
- Development of sketches, schemes, and blockouts for future levels.
- Consideration of player navigation, tension, rhythm, cinematic composition, and scripted events.
Level Assembly in Unity:
- Working with existing 3D assets (modules, props, decorations).
- Building modular design scenes optimized for mobile (URP).
- Setting up triggers, spawners, lighting zones, and post-processing volumes.
Environment Modeling:
- Creating simple low-poly or mid-poly models for levels (walls, furniture, equipment, debris, etc.).
- UV unwrapping and basic texturing using trim sheets, atlases, or simple material blends.
Scene Optimization:
- Working with occlusion culling, LOD, light baking (including light probes).
- Preparing levels for release: navigation checks, boundary validation, shader and lighting review.
💼 Requirements:
- Experience with Unity, Unreal, Godot, or similar engines (at least one).
- Basic understanding of navigation, physics, and lighting systems.
- Proficiency with ProBuilder or other blockout tools.
- Knowledge of prefab-based workflow and scene composition.
- Experience with 3D DCC tools: Blender / Maya / 3ds Max (priority: Blender).
- Basic to intermediate UV mapping and texturing skills (Substance Painter / Photoshop / Quixel).
- Understanding of gameplay space design: choke points, safe zones, ambushes.
- Ability to collaborate with game designers, programmers, and artists.
- Independence in decision-making regarding level composition.
- Attention to detail and environmental storytelling.
- Fluency in the Ukrainian language
🔮 Nice to Have:
- Experience with survival horror or action horror games.
- Understanding of narrative structure and scene composition.
- Ability to create effects using Shader Graph or VFX Graph.
- Insight into player psychology — how to create tension, surprise, and orientation.
- Experience using GIT in a team environment.
