Founded in 2000, Frogwares is an independent game development studio. Best known for the popular games such as The Sinking City and the Sherlock Holmes series, we are dedicated to creating compelling single-player experiences driven by strong storytelling.

To support our continued growth, we’re seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Lawyer to help safeguard our creations, technology, and brand presence across global markets.

Responsibilities

• Advise on all intellectual property matters, including copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and licensing related to video games, promotional assets, and in-game content.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements such as publishing deals, licensing contracts, NDAs, and work-for-hire arrangements.
• Monitor and manage IP portfolios, including trademark registrations and copyright filings globally.
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to IP infringement, counterfeit content, and brand misuse.
• Handle IP disputes, takedowns, cease and desist letters, and coordinate with external counsel when needed.
• Stay updated on industry-specific IP regulations, digital content laws, and emerging technologies affecting game development (e.g., AI-generated content, NFTs).
  
  

Requirements

• Law degree and valid legal license to practice (bar admission in relevant jurisdiction).
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience practicing intellectual property law, preferably in the entertainment or gaming industry.
• Strong understanding of copyright and trademark law as it applies to digital content and game development.
• Experience in contract drafting and negotiation in a commercial or creative environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate legal language into actionable guidance.
• Familiarity with global IP enforcement, including DMCA processes and online content protection tools.
• An advanced English level is a must.
• Solid knowledge of Ukrainian and international intellectual property law.
• Passion for games and an understanding of gaming culture is a strong plus.
