[Contract/Long-Term] Two Roles: UE Developers (Various Specialties) & Trailer/Video Producer — Small Indie Tactical RPG, Ukraine-Based Team

We’re a small, independent team building Burned Horizons, a turn-based tactical RPG set in the early 2000s, think a grounded, consequence-driven squad tactics game where wounds, trust, and psychological trauma carry forward across missions, not just another XCOM-style reskin. Currently in closed alpha, actively building toward Early Access.

We have two separate openings right now, described below. You’re welcome to apply for either or both if you fit them.

Role 1: Unreal Engine Developers — Various Specialties

We’re primarily looking to build out long-term help now, filling gaps across different skill sets in game development as we ramp up toward and through Early Access. This includes areas like:

  • UI/UX implementation
  • Enemy AI / behavior systems
  • Inventory and equipment systems
  • General gameplay systems work in Unreal Engine

We’re not looking for one generalist to cover everything, we’re looking to bring on people whose specific strengths match specific gaps, and this could grow into an ongoing role depending on fit. Contract/short-term work is still open if that’s a better fit for you right now, but our priority is finding people interested in sticking around as the project grows toward full release.

Requirements: conversational English, since you’ll be coordinating directly with the team on tasks and design questions, not just reading documentation.

Budget: $25/hour, up to $225/week (roughly 8-9 hours), to start. Additional hours beyond that get deferred, paid out once we’re generating revenue in Early Access. There’s real potential for more hours, continued work, and profit-sharing as we move toward full release, we’re upfront that this starts as a modest, honest rate with real upside tied to the project’s success.

If you’re interested, reach out and let us know which area(s) you’re strongest in, we’ll share more detail on where we specifically need help right now.

Role 2: Video Editor / Trailer Producer

We’re also looking for someone to produce a launch trailer for Early Access, plus a series of short mechanic-explainer clips (roughly 5-10 seconds each) used in marketing and embedded in-game.

You’ll capture your own gameplay footage using a provided game key. We’re not handing over a shot list, we want someone who can understand what makes this game different and bring their own creative eye to it. We’ll give context and some parameters, but the creative approach is yours.

This is a limited-budget indie project, we’re upfront about that going in. Reach out with your rate or a quote based on scope, and include examples if you’ve worked on trailers or short-form content before, ideally something showing you can both capture and edit footage.
